Course Description This course is an introduction to accounting. The student will develop a solid foundation for managing personal and economic finances. The course will provide opportunities to enter transaction by hand, followed by automated accounting software. The focus will be on skills, knowledge, accuracy and particularly the attitudes and processes necessary for successful accounting.
Objectives: After completing this semester, students should be able to understand accounting for a service business organized as a proprietorship in the following: üFundamental Accounting Equation üDebit/Credit Identification and Analysis üJournalizing Transactions üPosting Transactions üUnderstanding and Completing Worksheets
Organization and Materials: üIt is strongly suggested to keep all of your work in a large three-ring binder, organized by 9 dividers into chapters. The checklist for each chapter is to be placed at the front of each chapter divider. üAny work that is turned in must include: your name, the date and the period üPlease come prepared with your books, at least two pencils, and a calculator for each class! üI do NOT have extra supplies for each student!!
